Event Description

Seminar title: “Host-biofilm interactions in periprosthetic joint infections”

Presented by: Dr. Jessica Gilbertie
Virginia Tech College of Osteopathic Medicine

Seminar Description:

“Biofilms play a vital role in why treatments fail during periprosthetic joint infections. However, little is known about what factors within the infective environment induce biofilm formation and how the host responds to biofilms is unknown. Therefore, due to these unknowns, new treatments are difficult to create. The Gilbertie laboratory studies these two important host-biofilm interactions to create novel therapeutics.”
