Professional Biography

Reproductive Health

Dr. Troedsson’s research encompasses reproductive immunology, infertility and pregnancy loss in horses, and has contributed to advancements in the pathophysiology, diagnosis and treatment of equine endometritis, in particular breeding-induced endometritis and the role of seminal plasma proteins in the innate immune response to breeding. He has also contributed with pioneer research on early diagnostics and treatment of equine placentitis as well as other areas of reproductive health in mares and stallions. His former graduate students have obtained faculty positions and serve as academic leaders at US and International Universities. Dr. Troedsson is board certified in the American College of Theriogenology and the European College of Animal Reproduction, and has served in numerous leadership positions. Current and recent research include

  • Bacterial biofilm associated proteins as potential diagnostics for endometritis
  • Identification of biomarkers for high-risk pregnancies
  • The effect of seminal plasma on immune tolerance during pregnancy, and metabolism of the offspring
  • Degradation of endometrial cups by immune-modulatory treatment
  • Pathophysiology of endometrial fibrosis
