Dr. McDowell's research into the effects of enophyte-infected fescue are featured in the above video (Part 1 of 3 educational videos in development.)

Dr. McDowell's overall goal is to reduce pregnancy losses and enhance pregnancy maintenance in mares. Specific research interests include:

  • Determining causes of reproductive losses in mares, including maternal-embryo or maternal-fetal interactions
  • Mare reproductive loss syndrome
  • Effects of endophyte-infected fescue on pregnant mares
