No, you do not need any research or lab experience to participate in the program.

Around mid-February, an email will be sent out to all LMU students detailing the process and providing a link to an enrollment form.  This link will have important information regarding the process that you should read thoroughly.  Additionally, a spreadsheet with the available projects for the summer will be attached to the email. 

You should review the project spreadsheet and reach out to individual UK research mentors regarding any questions you have.  Certain projects will require permission from the mentor to participate or have other requirements, which will be listed in the spreadsheet.

Once you identify any projects you are interested in and have had any questions answered, you should use the enrollment form link to provide your information and rank your choices as spots are filled first-come, first-served based on your project rankings.  Students are encouraged to list multiple projects in case their top choice(s) are already full.

Projects can start soon after your spring semester finishes but start dates vary and are arranged in discussion with your UK research mentor. Other commitments such as family vacations or celebrations should also be discussed and taken into consideration when planning the project.

This varies and is something that between you and your UK research mentor is usually worked out when you discuss the project or early on in the process. We all understand that "life happens" and while we make plans as best as possible, they can typically be adapted.

Yes, you will receive a $5000 stipend for your own personal use.

The length of your individual research program will be mutually agreed upon between you and your research mentor and it will be custom tailored to fit your schedule and research area.

To gain research experience and exposure to different aspects of veterinary science. You and your mentor will generate a poster describing the work you did or were involved with during the summer. This poster will be presented at LMU Research Day.

The University of Kentucky will not provide you housing, but there are many resources available to help you find a place to stay. Former summer students have described it being extremely easy to find a place to rent for the summer. Websites like uky.uloop.com/housing and Facebook groups like University of Kentucky Off-Campus Housing Subleasing can help you find apartments or houses to rent or sublease during your summer program.

Yes, you need to be a veterinary student or CVM Masters student at Lincoln Memorial University.
